A dark fairytale about the violence we inherit and the harm we choose.
A young man seeks a potion that will erase his past. Obtaining it means hunting a unicorn. But Orlin has already hurt someone, and the promise of a new beginning is drawing him towards further violence.
The story
After striking a younger boy, Orlin turns to the forest witch Aggie for a way out. She offers the possibility of Oblivion. Its price sends him into the Murmuring Forest in pursuit of a unicorn’s golden horn.
Each attempt to secure his escape leaves damage behind. The Shadow that has haunted him knows how to make cruelty sound deserved. Aggie’s care carries demands of its own. And the Unicorn has reasons to let the hunt continue.
As the bargain unravels, Orlin must confront what forgetting would leave untouched: the lives he has harmed, the choices that remain his, and a boy who owes him no forgiveness.
The theatrical world
A forest that bears the marks of the hunt.
Live performance and life-size puppetry give physical form to the creatures Orlin pursues and the forces that pursue him. The forest changes with each encounter. What is broken, taken or killed remains part of the world he must inhabit.

The Innerwild Fables is a series of dark fairytales for adults by Georgie Castilla. Across a shared mythic world, creatures, bargains and transformations expose the intimate workings of love, fear and power. Each standalone play confronts its characters with the consequences of what they do to others, including what they do in the name of protection or belonging.
