AN ELEPHANT IN
THE ROOM

Written by Roberto Thomas-Díaz

All entrances are closed...

A protest blocks the entrances to the busiest hospital in Panama City. Inside a storage room, four women who work there discover something unusual: a man wearing a hospital uniform has broken in to steal. No one can leave or enter. Who is he? What do they do with him?

This play by Panamanian artist Roberto Thomas-Díaz, winner of the 2022 Ricardo Miró Award, explores the challenges faced by healthcare workers within the current state of our health systems.

Through GMF's Fragments of Brilliance programme, this acclaimed work, originally written in Spanish, celebrates its world premiere in English with a translation written by Thomas-Díaz himself.
